Hill Sachs Lesion, Well as we have discussed before in our blogs as well that Hill Sachs lesion is often associated with traumatic or sudden shoulder dislocation. But one thing that we know is that it is an injury of the Glenoid Labrum of the shoulder, and among the population that has suffered shoulder labrum lesion it\'s prevalance is almost as much as 40%-90% in patients with anterior shoulder instability. Patients with Hill Sachs defect or lesion has a very high chances of further developing Bankart Lesion.
Now coming to what exactly is Hill Sachs Lesion? Hill Sachs lesion is actually a cortical depression in the posterolateral head of the humerus, which is usually associated with anterior shoulder dislocations or subluxations & often leads to shoulder instability as well as Bankart Lesions. Glenoid labrum is a soft tissue cartilage around the glenoid cavity which provides stability to the the joint and also acts as a shock absorber. Thus, the injury at Head of humerus may also damage the glenoid Labrum which is in close proximity to the injured site & leads to the feeling of instability, grinding of bones leading to crepitus as well as frequent shoulder dislocation in severe cases as well.
