Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) Pelvic floor dysfunction is a condition where the muscles of the pelvic floor—the group of muscles that support the bladder, uterus/prostate, and bowel—do not work properly. These muscles may be too weak, too tight, or uncoordinated, leading to problems with urination, bowel movements, and sexual function.PFD can be of 3 types Hypotonic weak pelvic floor muscles, Hypertonic (Tight, overused) pelvic floor muscles, Incoordination (Dyssnergia).
