Vertigo is commonly felt as a spinning or whirling sensation. It’s more than just normal dizziness—people often feel like their surroundings are moving or that they might lose balance even when they are standing still. Because of this, everyday activities like walking, turning in bed, or looking up can become difficult and uncomfortable. Most of the time, vertigo is not a disease on its own but a sign that something is affecting your balance system, especially in the inner ear. A very common reason is when tiny particles inside the ear get disturbed, which can make you feel dizzy when you move your head. Sometimes, vertigo can also happen due to an inner ear infection or inflammation, leading to sudden dizziness and loss of balance. In some people, it may be linked to conditions like fluid imbalance in the ear or even problems in the neck known as cervicogenic dizziness. At Physionautics, we usually start by understanding exactly what kind of vertigo the patient is experiencing. A detailed assessment helps us identify whether the issue is coming from the inner ear, the neck, or the overall balance system. We check eye movements, head positions, balance, and movement patterns before planning treatment. We also work on posture and neck mobility wherever required, because many times these factors contribute more than patients realize.
