De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis is a condition that causes pain on the thumb side of the wrist. The pain usually develops when the tendons that help move the thumb become irritated due to repeated use of the hand and wrist. People with this condition often experience discomfort while gripping objects, opening bottles, lifting a child, using a mobile phone, typing, or carrying bags. Some may also notice mild swelling near the base of the thumb and difficulty moving the thumb comfortably. This problem is commonly seen in new mothers, office workers, gym-goers, and individuals who perform repetitive hand movements throughout the day. If left untreated, the pain may gradually increase and start affecting daily activities. At Physionautics, we assess wrist and thumb movements, hand strength, and daily habits to identify the cause of the problem. Treatment focuses on reducing pain, improving tendon mobility, and restoring normal hand function through physiotherapy, exercises, activity modification, and movement correction.
