This is a seronegative polyarticular arthropathy, also known as REITER\'S SYNDROME. The cause is unknown. Men are affected much more often than women. The age group commonly affected is 30-40. Inflammatory changes takes place in the structure of the knees, ankles and foot joints. Also affected are the tendo achillis, sheaths of the tendons round the ankle joint and plantar fascia. The disease can be severe and progress rapidly although sometimes it is self-limiting. Clinical Features are Pain, swelling and loss of function occurs in the foot, ankle and knee joints. Aims of the treatment are to reduce pain, to reduce inflammation, to mobilize joints, to strengthen the muscles, to re-educate function.
